Coffee Mug Cozy - #2

I really liked the first coffee mug cozy I made, but I saw this one and had to try it as well!!  Oh my!  I cannot tell you how much of a hit this has become! I sold a dozen in a day!  They are also not terribly difficult to make!  I found the pattern on Pinterest of course!  Also, it was a FREE pattern.  If you like to crochet, but want a quick project you need to check this out!!  It takes me about 30 minutes to make one, and I love the stitch pattern in it - this will be appearing in some of my future projects!!

The pattern can be found here.

As always, if you would like to purchase one or more of these please message me for details!!  They can be made in colors of your choice!

Ruffled Purse

I pinned this purse on Pinterest just because I thought it was cute!  Then, awhile later I had someone send me a message asking if I could make it for her. So, I told her I had not made one yet, but I would try it and get back to her.  I absolutely loved the pattern as soon as I looked at it.  It included pictures and step by step directions!  It is made up of very simple stitches and could easily be done by someone who is still learning!  However, this project did take me a couple days (spent mostly crocheting - with breaks to eat, clean and such).  Check this out and let me know what you think!!

Taco Soup...

Today I made the first soup of the season...and it was wonderful!!!  Tonight was a perfect night for a bowl of soup!  We had a great morning at church, then came home relaxed, put soup on the stove, and then this evening we sat down to eat that soup and watch some football!!

This is a recipe that I use Deer meat for, but it can be made with hamburger or ground turkey, or without meat!  I must give recipe credit to my Mother-in-law.  She gave this to me after I found out it was one of my husband's favorites.  I have also heard of people adding cabbage, but...I don't.  It can be made within 30 minutes and lasts my family (myself and my amazing husband) about a week - one night of dinner and then lunches a couple/few days each.

Taco Soup:
1 can kidney beans
1 can black beans
2 cans whole kernel corn
1large can crushed tomatoes
1 package taco seasoning **I use homemade Taco Seasoning
1 package ranch seasoning
1 lb ground meat (browned)

Combine all ingredients (don't drain the beans, just open the can and dump) in pot and heat through!  Serve with corn chips and shredded cheese!  Although it can be made quickly, if I have time, I like to put it on low heat and let it cook slowly through the evening....makes the house smell delicious!!

Attn: Couponers!!

So, I was going through Wal-Mart this afternoon on a quick trip to get some things for school and ran across a clearance section in Office Supplies. I love Office Supplies!!  I noticed the Pop Up tape things were on clearance...I didn't get any, just noticed.

Then, after working in my classroom today, I went back to Wal-Mart (with my coupon book) to get groceries).  I had failed to research the sales, so I pulled my little Wal-Mart cart into a corner to browse through my coupons real quick and pulled a few I wanted to check on...as I was doing that I came across $1 off Pop Up Tape...hmmm.... So, after grabbing some free razors, cheap feminine products, and energy bars I headed back to office supplies...

 Sure enough, I saw:

Pop-Up Tape refill:  $0.75!!

Do the math?

That's right!!

(Don't know how to turn this the right way...)

I made $0.25 for each one!!!  Woohoo!! I was so excited! I love to use this when wrapping gifts, but rarely buy it because regular tape is cheaper, and I prefer to take the cheapest (but still nice) way possible.

I did notice that a couple aisles over the same thing was listed at $1.97, but I double checked with the Wal-Mart person working that section, and they were truly $0.75.  So, find your coupon and go check your Wal-Mart!!

FREE - THIS SATURDAY!!!

So, today was a run around town and do errands kind of day.  Including standing in line 45 minutes waiting to order at Chick-fil-A (I think it is wonderful when someone stands up for what they believe in...wish more people would stand up for their beliefs)!  Therefore, I did not do any project in its entirety...However, I did do small parts of various projects! :)  Keep checking back to see some pretty neat things I've been working on!!   I did find an amazing coupon that I wanted to share.  This Saturday (August 4th) you can get a free quart of pain at your local Ace Hardware.  Simply print the coupon, fill it out, and take to your store!

I will definitely be using this!  I have two projects in mind, so if I can get my sweet, thoughtful, loving, wonderful (just in case he reads this) husband to stay awake long enough after he gets off work, I will print a coupon for him too!  I am trying to do a few projects to give our house a little 'cheap' face lift and FREE paint will most certainly help with that!! We have a front door, hand rail, and 6 shutters that NEED paint!  Check back for pictures of how I use my free paint and please let me know how you use yours!

Pinterest Project of the Day - Day 5

I decided to do one of the crochet projects today.  On Tuesday my Mom and I went to Cross Plains to have lunch at Thomas Drugs, a pharmacy and soda shop. While we were there we checked out a couple of the local shops.  I spoke with one of the shop owners about selling some items on consignment and we discussed my hand crocheted dish rags and scarves.  So, I have been looking at different types of scarves that are comfortable, cozy, not overly difficult to make, and attractive.  I got the basic idea for today's scarf from a pin on Pinterest (http://brookeanndove.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html).  However, it called for a thick yarn, which I don't keep on hand.  However, the next time it is on sale at Hobby Lobby (or I have a 40% coupon) I plan to get a skein of the thick yarn to try it out also!  So, of course, I modified the pattern given on the website to make the scarf work with the yarn that I did have on hand.  I do not own, and I have never made one of the infinity scarves...so, that is what I made today!

(please excuse the shirt that does not match the scarf...)

My modified version:

Red Heart yarn (I only used less than half a skein to make this)
Crochet Hook I/9 - 5.5mm
     * Chain 150
     * Connect to beginning chain with a slip stitch, chain two (this will count as your first double crochet - on this row and each row throughout)
     * Double crochet in each chain, connect to ch 2 with a slip stitch.
     * Repeat double crochet until scarf is desired width.
(this picture is with 7 rows of Double Crochet....I plan to go back and add at least one row)

Good Luck! Let me know how your projects turn out!! :)
